If there's a 'point' of Mosca, it's maybe that I'm showing by example how a producer or DJ can play with genre and boundaries, create a wide range of music and styles, and to do it all under one moniker (instead of doing different genres under a different alias each time). Sheer love of sound and sheer disregard for most industry rules. No hiding behind a mask or a stage persona, just a human being into music.
So far I've played with established and niche genres like underground techno, kuduro, dancehall, electronic stuff, grime, noise, minimal dnb, dembow, UK bass (I suppose?!), baile funk, no-wave, Bmore club, digi-era reggae, jungle tekno, NOLA bounce, UKG, hiphop / beats, ambient / soundtrack, b-boy electro, solo piano, dub techno, ghetto house, IDM, 'leftfield' house, meditation sounds even. U get the gist :)
But where my heart really lies is making a contribution to the music scene in terms of pushing scenes and sounds forward. I grew up when things in the UK moved pretty rapidly... jungle, drum n bass, garage, 2-step, dubstep, grime, funky. Things seem to have changed more recently. I'm not going to pass judgement on that, but personally I don't want to spend toooo much time dotting about in ready-formed genres - it was never meant to be gimmicky.
Some of my favourites tracks of mine are the unclassifiable ones - This Is Not A Coded Message, Hybrid (Hammer Edit), No, We're Not A Couple, Nike, Don't Take This The Wrong Way, On The Night In Question etc.
This is one of them. I've got three new genre ideas that I'll be pushing in the future, and this minimal-but-maximal club stuff is the start of one of those genres. No name for this type of sound yet of course :)
Maybe a few elements of ballroom, baile funk, Night Slugs Club Constructions, grime, decon******ed club, weightless stuff, electro-acoustic sounds here?... but not something you'd be able to pigeon hole.
Here's to the future >>>

All the tracks are great but Stepper is the standout for me! pounding syncopated kicks, rolling handdrums and playful sample work, dancefloor destroyer. Jack G.
