RENT016 - another new genre idea... slowfast doubletime madness

If u heard my remix for Henzo last month (leftrightandcentre.bandcamp.com/track/iron-lighter-moscas-ferromagnetic-version), this is something along those lines again.

A quick explanation, as there'll be more of this style to come in the future... first and foremost this is definitely club music for dancing. A lot of music around this kind of tempo is meant for cars or bars, but lately I've really been exploring the intersection between headnod material and driving, rushing, caffeinated madness.

It's very much a balancing act but when you get into this new groove it feels slow and fast at the same time - 200bpm is obviously too much to sustain for any real period of time, and I do see it as a genre that DJs can play with for a bit, in the same way that mixing techno into techno is greater than the sum of its parts. A little section of this in the club can really open your mind to new rhythms and new ways of dancing.

Sound / vibe wise, it's pretty dark but fun, something that a lot of UK club music has done really well over the last 30 or 40 years. And it's definitely a UK sound despite the melting pot of influences - gqom, cumbia, dub, singeli, dembow, trap hihats etc.

Anyway I've gone on too long - as ever the best way to understand is just to listen :)
